Our Guest Speaker is Melinda Keenan, Psy. from the Center for Post Traumatic Growth
Dr. Melinda Keenan is a licensed psychologist who has worked with veterans of all eras since 2001. Dr. Keenan earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver in 2000. She has developed a treatment program to address post traumatic stress and moral injuries in combat veterans. Dr. Keenan and her colleagues have been implementing this treatment for the past 18 years. In 2014 an article addressing this treatment approach was published in the journal Psychotherapy. In 2013 Dr. Keenan founded the non-profit, Center for Post Traumatic Growth, to more fully address the treatment needs of veterans and their families. More recently, Dr. Keenan has begun to use this approach to address post traumatic stress and moral injuries in veterans with military sexual trauma and is working to expand the treatment to include first responder populations (police, firefighters and EMTs).
