Course Description 

COVID-19 is affecting all of us. We are rearranging our lives and learning to cope with the new realities of physical distancing and limited resources. Many of us have never been more uncertain about our lives and careers. Learn simple, effective, and strategic planning techniques to overcome overwhelm; how to make quick decisions based on your values; and how to implement boundaries to prevent burnout during this unprecedented time. The topics of burnout, the stages of burnout, and how to access some of the available resources will also be covered.  

Discussion Topics: 

  • How to identify the stages of burnout 
  • Why boundaries and identifying personal values are important to avoid burnout. 
  • Definition of a boundary, value, and burnout. 
  • How to implement effective boundaries. 
  • How to implement strategic planning techniques to overcome overwhelm.  

BIO-  Angela Demaree, DVM, MPH, CHPC 

Dr. Angela Demaree, a veterinarian, and veteran currently serves as the CEO and Principal Consultant for PAWS Consulting, a public health, and political consulting firm and is the host of the popular Beyond The Stethoscope Podcast.  Angela recently retired as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves and deployed in 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where she learned strategic planning tools and techniques.  

Previously, as the Equine Medical Director of the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, she successfully led and managed forty part-time intermittent employees through institutional change. She has her Master of Public Health in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine and is a Certified High Performance Coach.  

Angela is a member of the American Statistical Association, the American Public Health Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association as well as her state and local veterinary medical associations. She currently serves as the President-Elect for both the American Association of Food Safety and Public Health Veterinarians (AAFSPHV) and the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine's Alumni Board. She also serves on the Indiana Animal Health Foundation Board, the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association’s Innovation Task Force, and Legislative Working Group.
