While your technical skills may help you get the job, your soft skills are what best prepares you to keep the job. Your people skills: effective communication, professionalism and work ethics, teamwork, critical thinking, and a whole host of other transferable skills are essential for career success. Hiring officials and employers agree that "Boosting your soft skills is a gateway to success.". As you evaluate your overall skillset, it’s important to sharpen your soft skills.

  • Hard Skills vs. Soft Skills
  • What is the Soft Skills Gap?
  • Soft Skills Employers are Looking for in 2021
  • Soft Skills Trends and Post COVID-19 Projections

Bio: Emma Reynolds-Middleton is CEO and master trainer at Soft Skills Zone. She says that Soft Skills Zone was in her heart since the 1980s when she was in college. Emma had a meltdown giving a public speech, and that was a big turning point in her life.

Emma is a US Army veteran who devoted over 20 years working as a Finance Officer on active duty and the US Army Reserves. Her professional career also spans assignments at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Georgia Department of Labor, Georgia Industries for the Blind (GIB), and in the construction industry. Emma has worked in finance, budgeting, program operation and administration, quality assurance, workforce development, and in several leadership positions.

At the same time, Emma has always been engaged in community affairs where she resides. For over a decade she taught pro bono soft skills courses to adults and youths at schools and various non-profit organizations. In 2016, Emma became an Adjunct Faculty at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) Georgia, in Suwanee, Georgia, with the School of Professional and Applied Psychology, the Organizational Development and Leadership (ODL) Program. She has taught Communication for Leaders, and she teaches the Team Dynamics course to graduate students seeking a Master of Science (MS) in Biomedical Sciences.

When Emma resigned from the workforce, she made a smooth transition into what she's currently doing at Soft Skills Zone: training, credentialing, and coaching others in soft skills development for their professional and personal success.
